Serial I/O Adapter Offers Eight-Port RS-232 For PCI

Feb. 1, 1999

The COMM+8.PCI is a PCIbus eight-port serial I/O adapter intended for applications such as communications servers, point-of-sale systems, thin client workstation connections, and other peripherals controls. All eight ports share a single IRQ to conserve system IRQs. The adapter's on-board interrupt status port allows the interrupt service routine to determine which port generated the interrupt for efficient servicing. This flexibility ensures the highest level of compatibility with mainstream operating systems. Standard features include 16554 UARTs; 64-byte FIFO 16654 UARTs are optional. Firm's SeaCOM suite of Windows 95/98/NT advanced COM: drivers is included, providing support for shared IRQs, advanced UARTs, and auto RS-485 RTS control.
