Members of the MuxLink line of wide-wavelength-division multiplexed (WWDM) transceivers are designed to meet the IEEE 802.3ae Gigabit Ethernet 10GBase-LX4 Physical Media Dependent (PMD) sublayer standard. The devices comply with the XENPAK multisource agreement that uses the 10-Gbit Attachment User Interface (XAUI) electrical interface.

This WWDM LX4 transceiver operates over both installed multimode and single-mode fiber. Each transceiver has four 3.125-Gbit/s DFB lasers that are optically multiplexed to provide a 10-Gbit/s data throughput. The MuxLink module is hot-pluggable and packaged in the industry-standard XENPAK form factor. The optical interface is a duplex SC connector. The company's 70-position SMT Z-axis pluggable electrical host connector supports the XAUI electrical interface.

The company is now sampling MuxLink LX4 modules. Production volume pricing is estimated at $2000 per unit by the end of 2002.
