Ready for sampling, the WiND502 multi-mode IEEE 802.11a/b/g and WiND512 IEEE 802.11g are dual-device chipsets that share a common MAC/baseband processor, the EN202. The WiND502 employs the EN303 RF chip and WiND512 employs the EN313 RF device for IEEE 802.11g-only operation. Both chipsets are compliant with IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g (draft) standards and support 40-/128-bit WEP encryption, IEEE 802.1x and Radius authentication, and the WiFi protected access enhanced security initiative. Compliance with international radio regulations is accomplished via dynamic frequency selection and transmission power control through IEEE 802.11h compatibility. Both chipsets sport a patented zero-loss front-end design that allows for a receiver sensitivity of 5 dB more than required by IEEE standards. Other features include a power consumption of 50 mW in idle mode and 1.6W in transmission mode and integrated loop-back and calibration blocks. Design kits are available, which include chipset samples, development systems, data sheets, drivers, and an external BOM component. Chipset pricing is $35 each/100K. ENVARA INC., Palo Alto, CA.
