The Tiva C Series Connected LaunchPad offers an Internet-of-Things (IoT) platform for rapid prototyping of cloud-based applications. The latest addition to Texas Instruments’ MCU-based LaunchPad ecosystem, it broadens the connectivity capability of any new or existing LaunchPad-based application. On-board 10/100 Ethernet MAC+PHY via the Tiva C Series TM4C1294NCPDT MCU offers advanced-line diagnostics for smart identification of cabling issues. Other interfaces include high-speed CAN and USB. In addition, there are two BoosterPack XL plug-in interfaces for connecting to compatible BoosterPacks, which help expand application reach with sensors, displays, wireless modules, etc. To control outputs and manage multiple events (e.g., lighting, sensing, motion) using sensor aggregation capabilities, it incorporates 10 I2C ports, two 12-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), two quadrature encoder inputs, three on-chip comparators, an external peripheral interface, and pulse-width-modulation outputs. Managing the Connected LaunchPad by remotely connecting to a Web browser or custom application helps designers get the most out of IoT applications that leverage scalable cloud technologies and visual analytics. Power levels can be regulated with TI’s onboard TPS2052BDRBR dual-channel power switch and TPS73733DRV 3.3-V low-dropout regulator. The Connected LaunchPad costs $19.99.
