Heavy-Duty Film Capacitors Handle 305 V AC Nominal

The B3293 series of MKT capacitors is designed for AC applications; these film capacitors can withstand severe ambient testing conditions of 85°C and 85% relative humidity for 1000 hours under an AC load with minimum parameter drift. The series covers a capacitance range of 0.1 to 10 µF and is designed for a nominal voltage of 305 V ac to IEC 60384-14. Their maximum operating temperature is 105°C. Parts with capacitances of up to 2.2 µF have X2 safety certification (IEC 60384-14 / EN 60384-14). The capacitors are intended for high-reliability applications including automotive electronics. They are also useful in applications in which an uncontrolled change in capacitance can cause circuit malfunction. Thanks to their high humidity resistance, these capacitors can also be used outdoors. They are also especially suited for home appliances, power meters and smoke alarms, as well as for motion sensors and rolling shutters. The new series is available for sampling and mass production in the November/December timeframe, with pricing starting at $0.12 to $3.25 each depending on capacitance value. EPCOS INC., Iselin, NJ.
