SMT Microminiature Detect Switches Boast 100,000-Cycle Lifetime

April 26, 2013
IP-sealed surface-mount detect switches developed by C&K Components come in a low-profile 4.7- by 4.2-mm form factor, with a 2.2-mm body height and 3.8-mm actuator height

IP-sealed surface-mount detect switches developed by C&K Components come in a low-profile 4.7- by 4.2-mm form factor, with a 2.2-mm body height and 3.8-mm actuator height. The JCH Series switches maintain a maximum operating force of 65 grams and an operational lifespan of 100,000 cycles. The IP64 seal is dust-tight and protected from water splashed in all directions with limited ingress permitted. The rugged RoHS-compliant switches come with silver over nickel plate terminals. Operating temperature ranges from 20° to 70°C; contact rating is 1 mA at 5 V dc. The switches particularly suit applications with mechanical detections that require either vertical or horizontal actuation and mobile devices that typically use various packing materials to protect the switch from contaminants. Among the potential landing spots for the switches are the portable electronics, health-care system, automotive integration, audio/visual device, and detection/security peripheral arenas.
