Stomp Boxes Protect Music Electronics

June 30, 2010
The 1590 STOMP die-cast aluminium enclosures (stomp boxes) predominantly house sound- and pitch-altering electronics

Primarily catering to electric guitarists and other musicians, the 1590 STOMP die-cast aluminium enclosures (stomp boxes) predominantly house sound- and pitch-altering electronics such as distortion circuits, ring modulators, digital delays, plus chorus, flanger, and phaser circuits. Players operate as many as 20 stomp boxes via footswitch, hence the nickname “stomp boxes”, in tough indoor/outdoor stage environments, which means the enclosures take a tremendous amount of physical, and sometimes verbal, abuse. The 1590 STOMP boxes are rugged, easy to machine die-cast aluminium enclosures that easily cope with demanding on-stage environments. They are available in two sizes, 112 mm x 60 mm x 27 mm and 119 mm x 94 mm x 34 mm, and sport a smooth gloss polyester-powder-paint finish, which reportedly does not chip after machining and provides a good surface for labels and silk screening. Standard colors include cobalt blue (RAL 5013), green (RAL 6024), light gray (RAL 7035), orange (RAL 2009), and red (RAL 3011) with other colors available upon request. A lap joint seals the units to IP54 and, to maintain RFI integrity, finish appears only on external surfaces. Although, as stated earlier, the 1590 enclosures predominantly target the music effects market, they are highly viable for numerous other applications. Hammond Manufacturing Co. Inc., Cheektowaga, NY. (716) 630-7030.
