LCD Modules’ Touch-Screen Totally Sealed

Sept. 1, 1999

A combination of an STN dot matrix with a touch-panel based on resistive sense technology enables these touch-screen LCDs to be used for operator input, as well as data readout in a wide variety of applications. A key advantage of using resistive sense technology is the ability to completely enclose and seal the touch-panel overlay because it does not require a conductive stylus for activation. The result is superior environmental protection, which is critical in many applications. The modules contain all of the LCD drive electronics and touch-panel logic required to display data, scan the panel, sense operator inputs, and output digital data to a control program. Various configurations are available.
