Supporting thinner displays and supposedly enhancing user experience, the S-Touch FingerTip controller offers true multi-touch capability with unlimited simultaneous touches. It also addresses multi-touch actions like pinch-to-zoom and supports stylus operations. The controller’s patented analog IP promises high SNR performance with faster scan speeds and what ST calls the industry’s greatest number of channels, which translates into a higher touch resolution. Other features include ultra-low power consumption, advanced noise cancellation, support for the latest on-cell LCD technology that eliminates the need for a ground shielding layer between the display and the touch sensor, 288 (18 x 16) nodes, and 8 kV of ESD protection (HBM). The devices are available in two packages: a 7 mm x 7 mm QFN 56 and a 3 mm x 3 mm flip-chip CSP 49. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
