A novel Compact-PCI hardware/software combination from Performance Technologies can switch servers in less than 10 ms using VxWorks and only 2 ms with Linux. This is much faster than typical clustering solutions, suiting the system for applications requiring continuous operation. The new Redundant Host application support runs on a pair of ZT 5524e SBC and ZT 4901e IO Mezzanine Bridge Cards in the ZT 5085e Redundant Host PICMG 2.16 Platform.

The system takes advantage of the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) and supports the PICMG 2.16 switched backplane in addition to CompactPCI.
