The Critical Connection Podcast Ep. #5: Empowering Communication Infrastructures with Optical Transceivers

Nov. 7, 2022
The explosive growth in mobile solutions and cloud computing puts a great deal of pressure on communication infrastructures, which must handle the large amounts of data being moved around. Let’s explore some of the considerations involved.
Today’s electronic solutions are being deployed in more places and being used in more ways than ever before. This, in turn, puts a great deal of pressure on communication infrastructures, which must handle the large amounts of data being moved around the internet and through the cloud. When choosing your data infrastructure, it’s important to consider how using optical transceivers can address your needs.

There are several issues involved in developing advanced communication structures, including addressing density and speed challenges, improving power consumption, thermal issues, and other datacom needs. Currently, there are two different signal modulation techniques examined for next-generation Ethernet, for example, non-return to zero (NRZ), and pulse-amplitude modulation 4-level (PAM4). Proper transceiver selection is critical to proper system functionality.

That’s why it is so important to have a development partner who can help you in your device selection and with supply chain issues, as well as confidence that the supplier can offer standard optical transceivers as well as custom devices that meet your needs.
