1W Isolated DC/DC Converters Cut Footprint In Half

Nov. 8, 2010
Changing the shape of 1W, isolated surface-mount DC/DC converters, the MTU1 series relies on current design techniques and materials to reduce the module's footprint while improving electrical performance characteristics.

Changing the shape of 1W, isolated surface-mount DC/DC converters, the MTU1 series relies on current design techniques and materials to reduce the module's footprint while improving electrical performance characteristics. The components measures 8.2 x 8.4 x 8.5 mm, representing a footprint reduction of 50% over the previous generation. Power density is 1.71 W/cm3 and operating temperature performance at 1W ranges from -40°C to +85ºC. Additionally, load regulation has been enhanced to 7.5%, a change of 40%. Eight models are currently available in the MTU1 series providing a choice of 5V or 12V input voltages and 5V, 9V, 12V, or 15V outputs. Each module has a single output, isolated to 1 kVdc. Prices in OEM quantities start at $4.50 each. MURATA POWER SOLUTIONS INC., Mansfield, MA. (508) 339-3000.
