Lighter and with more power than traditional chemistries, the CGR26650A lithium-ion cell is aimed at portable power tools, medical equipment, memory storage, back up power, and uninterruptible power supplies. Panasonic claims the cell’s nickel manganese-based cathode material delivers higher discharge rates—up to 40 A—and better temperature stability than comparative cells. In addition, a heat resistance layer (HRL) provides safer operation. Typical capacity is 2650 mAH, and a high recharge rate means that most capacity is recovered within 20 minutes.
