Ultra-compact size and EMI noise suppression distinguish Murata Americas’ latest series of dc-dc converters. The company claims the LXDC2UR and LXDC3EP series are the smallest dc-dc converters (600-mA and 1-A current ratings, respectively) that also integrate the I/O capacitors. Another series, the LXDC55B, is available at 3 A. In addition, by embedding the power inductor within the actual ferrite substrate, the IC can be mounted directly above the power-inductor coil with almost no pattern length, diminishing leakage radiation noise. I/O connections are routed through this ferrite substrate, too, to create a function similar to ferrite beads, which significantly reduces conductive noise.
