200-mA LDOs Include Auto Low-Power Mode

The TPS727xx family of low dropout regulators (LDOs) achieve an 8-?A quiescent current by way of an auto low-power mode that teams with a transient response of ±50 mV while maintaining low noise and a high PSRR. The auto low-power mode also eliminates the need to modify software drivers to control the mode pin, which reportedly speeds and simplifies the design process. It also reduces cost by eliminating the need for a GPIO pin and overhead firmware. Other features include a noise figure of 32 ?Vrms, PSRR of 70 dB at 1 kHz, operation with small, 1-µF ceramic capacitors, low dropout of 130 mV, and an output voltage range from 0.9V to 5V. Devices are available now in 1.5 mm x 1.5 mm SON-6 packages and 0.8 mm x 1.22 mm, 0.4-mm pitch, four-ball WCSPs. Pricing is $0.48 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
