The FAN1654 low-dropout (LDO) regulator's bidirectional output can source and sink 1 A. It handles transient loads up to 1.5 A, with peak currents meeting the loads of most double-data-rate bus-termination applications. Assuring the highest possible data bus bandwidth, the FAN-1654's terminator-voltage (VTT) outputs include force and sense pins to maintain accurate voltage levels on the bus. A buffered VREF output capable of ±5 mA is provided for SSTL-2 interface devices. The FAN1654 includes shutdown control as well as a VTT output that's protected against overload and short-circuit conditions by on-chip thermal limiting. The device's operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 125°C. The FAN1654 is available in a power-enhanced, 16-lead Exposed Pad TSSOP package and a standard 14-lead SOIC. Both are supplied in either tube or tape-and-reel packaging. The FAN1654M regulator costs $0.95 each in 1000-piece quantities.
