Inclinometers Feature Unique Electronic Damping Circuitry

Aug. 1, 2001

Based upon force balance accelerometer technology, The SII-702BHP and -702BI bi-axial tilt sensors produce a high-level, low-impedance output proportional to the sine of the tilt angle. Unique electronic damping and desensitization circuitry lets tilt measurements be made along two perpendicular axis in strong vibration and shock environments. The SII-702BHP is said to add accuracy and ruggedness. These devices are intended for applications such as platform stabilization, surface mapping and measuring tilt angles in remote locations and environments not permitting the use of more traditional methods. The SI-702BI is designed with an output circuit configuration made for use in 4 mA to 20 mA data transmission systems. It is suitable for use in industrial installations to transmit data over long distances in environments where interference from nearby electrical power lines could be a problem. A single 15V supply powers both the sensor and line driver. COLUMBIA RESEARCH LABORATORIES INC., Woodlyn, PA. (800) 813-8481.
