Program Slashes Thermal Simulation Time

Feb. 1, 2001

Introduced as a Web-based application for expediting the running of thermal simulations in Flotherm thermal analysis software, the Flopack web page allows users to build detailed three-dimensional thermal models of a wide range of IC packages. The models are then downloaded to a PC for direct import into a local copy of Flotherm.
Users go to the Flopack Web page and find the package they want to model and fill in an online table with dimensional and other data about the package and the silicon chip. The application then creates an IC package model file, which can be downloaded and imported into a Flotherm model. If a unique package is required, features such as heatsinks or heat spreaders can be added to the model.
