The Thunder3 PCIe SSD external storage device, manufactured by AKITIO for high-speed transfer of large files, is the first to combine the full PCIe Gen3 x4 bandwidth of Intel's 750 NVMe SSD with Thunderbolt 3's 40 Gb/s port, resulting in 2.5 GB/s of performance with a storage capacity of 1.2 TB. About 8x faster than USB 3.1 Gen 1, the PCIe SSD features two Thunderbolt 3 Ports as well as a DisplayPort video output to connect the latest 4K displays. The second port operates the same as the computer port by supporting USB 3.1 (up to 10 Gb/s), DisplayPort monitor or up to 5 daisy chained Thunderbolt 3 devices. The rugged all-aluminum housing provides reliable and consistent high performance under demanding conditions.
The storage device supports the ability to edit and playback multiple streams of HD and/or 4K content or manage thousands of RAW photographs. Up to six PCIe SSDs can be daisy-chained together for increased storage capacity. One computer port connects to Thunderbolt devices, every display and billions of USB devices. A single cable now provides four times the data and twice the video bandwidth of any other cable, while also supplying power. The Akitio Thunder3 PCIe SSD will be available in early Q2'16 for $1,299.
Griffin Motion's high-precision, 360° continuous travel RTS-DD Series rotary motion platform now features the RTS-DD-100-M-D-A-P-0-00 with a compact, low profile design and a brushless direct-drive servo motor that eliminates backlash and improves reliability by eliminating sliding friction throughout the stage. Exhibiting 30 arcsec angular accuracy, 3 arcsec repeatability, and 0.324 arcsec resolution, in addition to 480 deg/s angular velocity, 5 µm axial and radial run-out, and 10 arcsec wobble, the rotary stage is suited for use in a variety of laboratory, factory automation, and semiconductor processing applications, including inspection, laser marking and machining, optical positioning, wafer alignment, and rate table, pan-and-tilt, and beam steering operations.
The device also features a high-resolution optical encoder with a precision index mark for homing, and a 30 mm through-bore to enable the convenient routing of vacuum or high voltage lines for a wide range of wafer chucks. The compact rotary motion stage (RTS-DD-100-M-D-A-P-0-00) measures 133 x 110 x 55 mm. Standard lead-time is four weeks, but expedited lead-times can be accommodated upon request.
With up to seven years long-term availability, Kontron's new N3xxx SoC mITX-BW embedded motherboard with Intel Celeron processor is immediately deployable. Equipped with an ATX-compatible design, a large number of system components are now available. The embedded industry design differentiates the board significantly from commercial Mini-ITX offerings, which are less robust and only available in identical configurations for short periods of time, having an influence on the interfaces. The board supports not only 2x Display Ports but also 24 bit LVDS on the most performance Industrial Automation version. An IoT connection via 3G/4G SIM card-slot, as well as serial interfaces, are also available. Its mPCIe slot supports mSATA or mPCIe extensions. The operating system and application code can be stored on the mITX-N3xxx on the optional on-board 16 GB-sized bootable NAND Flash memory (eMMC). Standard interfaces, including GbE, SATA, CAN, RS485 and USB, are also integrated on the mITX-BW embedded motherboards.
M3H, a new group of 30 MCUs from Toshiba America that are based on the ARM Cortex-M3 core for embedded 32-bit microprocessors. The MCUs are the first product group in the TXZ Family of products, and are Toshiba's first MCUs to be fabricated with an embedded flash memory process based on the 65 nm logic process. The MCUs incorporate high-performance analog circuits and a range of basic functions required to support comprehensive motor control and consumer and industrial device applications. The devices operate at up to 40 Mhz, and the line-up includes low-pin-count packages (32 to 100 pins) and small flash memory sizes (32 to 128 KB).
Features integrated into the group include a high-precision 12-bit AD converter; an 8-bit DA converter; Toshiba's programmable motor control circuit (PMD) suitable for inverter motor control, including ac motor and BLDC motor control; and versatile general-purpose peripheral circuits including UART, I2C, TSPI, and timers. Incorporating this range of circuits allows the devices to simultaneously achieve both low-power characteristics and high-level functionality. Samples of the 30 products in the M3H group of MCUs will start shipping in May 2016, and mass production of the first products to be released will start in January 2017.
The XMCGA8 XMC high performance graphics board from Abaco Systems is designed to offer the ability to deliver safety-critical applications certified to DO-178 and DO-254 with long term support. The VITA 42-compliant board is available with the AMD/CoreAVI Radeon E8860 ‘Adelaar’ GPU, enabling it to deliver twice the graphics throughput of its predecessor, the XMCGA7. The upgrade can also deliver twice the performance/slot of its predecessor, while also minimizing TDP. The CoreAVI chip set features parts that have been temperature screened and qualified, and is supported by the necessary low level OS graphics drivers (OpenGL) for VxWorks 6.9 and VxWorks 653 safety-critical applications. Certifiable artifacts will be available from CoreAVI that can support a DAL A system design.
The graphics processing capability is suited for demanding applications such as video stitching and sensor fusion in wide area surveillance applications, allowing the incorporation of data from multiple sensor types to build a complete picture of a large geographical area, delivering increased situational awareness and context. The board can also be deployed as a GPGPU platform for applications such as ISR, radar and sonar. The XMCGA8 graphics board can provide up to four DVI outputs at resolutions up to 1,920 x 1,200 at 60 Hz and up to two VESA VGA outputs at the same resolutions.
Green Hills Software is now offering the immediate availability of its INTEGRITY RTOS and INTEGRITY Multivisor virtualization solutions for Renesas’ R-Car H3 SoC, the first member of the third-generation R-Car automotive computing platform. NI is now offering an enhanced version of their InsightCM Enterprise online fleet-wide monitoring software that helps companies gain insight into the health of capital equipment for machine maintenance and operations. The new version is an end-to-end software solution that addresses some of the growing challenges in the asset monitoring industry. NI IIoT technology platforms, such as InsightCM, DIAdem and CompactRIO, include distributed sensor measurement, edge processing, analytics and open communication and data management. The SXoM-SF2 from Solectrix is a high performance, low power, secure and ultra-compact DSP SOM based on Microsemi's SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA devices. The DSP SOM with a SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA and DDR3 memory, enables numerous higher performance applications to be readily built. The device functions as a modular system core for high performance DSP applications and uses a carrier board with a PCIe interface to enable high-speed streaming of processed data to the host (PCIe streaming server). The SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA combines a flash-based FPGA fabric featuring 56K LEs with an ARM-based hard processor system running at 166 MHz.
Solectrix offers an HD-SDI–to–PCIe base board to help demonstrate its SXoM-SF2's capabilities. CII FC-325 Series relays from TE Connectivity are designed for harsh inductive, motor and lamp load applications within the aerospace, defense and marine markets. Suited for extreme environments, the devices in the series are 3-pole, 25 AMP, non-latching, hermetically-sealed relays that are welded, lightweight and boast a higher capacity design than similar balanced armature versions. Qualified to MS27418 specifications, the relays have a 1.5" corrosion-protected cube enclosure and weigh 0.452 lbs. The devices come in tin-lead terminal plating without auxiliary contacts.

TDK is expanding its CCT series of clamp ac current sensors with a new 600 A type, the CCT406393-600-36. The current sensor has a clamp inner diameter of 36 mm and external dimensions of 56 x 67 x 96 mm. With a current transformation ratio of 3000:1, the output current is 200 mA. The clamp ac current sensor achieves its high current rating from its optimized sensor shape and high-performance ferrite material developed especially for current sensors. By the nominal current transformation ratio of the series unification, the further standardization of circuit parts is enabled. The sensor accommodates automatic processes from wire wrapping and winding to soldering, ensuring high-quality and stable supply.
Manufactured with automated winding and soldering processes to ensure high quality, the current sensor series finds application in energy management systems such as BEMS, FEMS and CEMS. Mass production of the 600 A clamp ac current sensor (CCT406393-600-36) will begin in July 2016.
