Mechanical Engineering

The University of Maryland’s Department of Mechanical Engineering is home to top ranked programs in Mechanical Engineering and Reliability Engineering, which have a long tradition of excellence. Ranked in the top 20 nationally by US News and World Report and with doctoral programs that enjoy high NRC rankings, the Department is one of eight Departments in the A. James Clark School of Engineering (link is external). It has the highest student population amongst the eight academic departments within the A. James Clark School of Engineering: 1150 undergraduate and 315 graduate students.
