The IoT Data Journey: Connecting the points from the Edge to the Cloud

The fundamental requirement for enabling the promise of the Internet of Things (IoT) are interoperable connections between the various sensors at the edge to a gateway and up to and back from the cloud. While each node typically follows an industry standard, there is no single standard that maps across all of the touch points. The complexity increases when different types of sensor devices, collecting unique sets of data, all coverage on the same gateway.

Description

The fundamental requirement for enabling the promise of the Internet of Things (IoT) are interoperable connections between the various sensors at the edge to a gateway and up to and back from the cloud. While each node typically follows an industry standard, there is no single standard that maps across all of the touch points. The complexity increases when different types of sensor devices, collecting unique sets of data, all coverage on the same gateway. When you add into the mix the dynamic and competing standards roadmaps and new product releases from vendors, the task becomes even more daunting.

This Avnet IoT University course is designed to help you make sense of it all. Join Barry Manz, well known for his insight into industrial communications and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), for this informational session on the latest technologies and trends related to data transport in the IIoT. Barry will review emerging technologies, the latest standards and different available options for addressing distinct use cases. Barry will also field audience questions during this interactive session. You’ll walk away from the course with a clear understanding on how best to manage the data journey through your IIoT application. Topics covered will include IPv6 and its impact on IIoT, different strategies for networking based around use case and best practices for implementing interoperability between the nodes in your solution.
