Stephen McCann
Stephen has 29 years’ experience in the telecoms industry, starting with DECT and the early days of GSM, then moving to Hiperlan2 and IEEE 802.11 WLAN technologies. He has been secretary of the IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards organization since 2006 and chaired the IEEE 802.11aq “Pre-association Discovery” project and its corresponding program within the Wi-Fi Alliance “Pre-association Infrastructure Discovery.”
In addition, Stephen has an active role in many other aspects of the IEEE 802.11 standard and the Wi-Fi Alliance Passpoint project, including the authorship of several contributions, and is currently technical editor of both the Passpoint specification and test plan documentation. Stephen has also chaired the GSMA Terminal Steering Group Wi-Fi group since May 2013.
