Newark element14, Farnell element14 rebranded as of March 1

March 1, 2019
Leeds, Yorkshire (England)-based Premier Farnell—a subsidiary of electronic components distributor Avnet—announced Friday that effective March 1, its brands Newark element14 and Farnell element 14 have been renamed. Going forward, Newark element14 is now Newark, An Avnet Company, while Farnell element14 has likewise changed to Farnell, An Avnet Company.

"Customers have known the businesses as Farnell and Newark since they were established in the 1930s, and this change of name recognizes its strong relationship with its customers and its role as a key element of the Avnet eco-system," Premier Farnell stated Friday. "By bringing the businesses together with the Avnet brand we want to show that working with Farnell and Newark is also working with Avnet, and demonstrate the value that we can add as one company."

Many leading electronic test & measurement instrumentation vendors partner with Newark and Farnell to sell through distribution.

Newark and Farnell became part of Avnet when parent company Premier Farnell was acquired in 2016. Premier Farnell said brands within Avnet’s overall ecosystem are now being brought together to provide a more simplified and cohesive proposition for both customers and suppliers.

"Customers no longer have to identify, review, and onboard a new partner at every phase of their product production and by working with Farnell in Europe or Newark in North America, and Avnet together, can have one partner throughout their product development cycle," the company stated. "This saves customer time and money, and provides support through the complex phases of product development."

As a business unit of Phoenix, AZ-based Avnet, Premier Farnell has traded as Newark element14 in North America, Farnell element14 in Europe, and element14 throughout Asia Pacific. The group is supported by a global supply chain of more than 3,500 suppliers.
