Talks are underway regarding a U.S. and European Union free-trade agreement, despite earlier concerns that the talks would be suspended over accusations that the U.S. had tapped EU offices in Brussels, Washington, and New York. (See “U.S. and European Union trade talks in jeopardy” here.)
Reuters reports, “The United States and the European Union are already each other's top trade and investment partners, with two-way trade that totaled more than $646 billion last year.”
“We go into these negotiations with the goal of achieving the broadest possible, most comprehensive agreement that we can,” U.S. Trade Representative Mike Froman told Reuters.
