Compact LED Installation Beacon Offers Up to Seven Colors

WERMA's new 240 series LED installation beacon is economical to run, requiring 45 to 60 mA.

WERMA recently launched its new 240 series LED installation beacon, Multicolour. The company now offers a compact signal device with up to seven colors in a single beacon: red, yellow, green, white, blue, violet, and turquoise.

A tricolor version is available as an alternative, combining the most common colors — red, yellow, and green — in one beacon. The beacon can be actuated via either a simple cable connection or a pre-assembled M12 plug, for plug and play. This allows one to signal several different statuses with a single device, says the company. The beacon can also be supplied with an attention-grabbing buzzer.

The diameter of the new 240 series LED installation beacon is 55 mm and it sits 46 mm above the surface upon which it's installed. This makes the beacon well-suited for limited-space installations. It can be used to signal faults or statuses on control panels for machinery and equipment.

According to WERMA, the LEDs produce a bright all-round light picture, and the frosted lens cap creates a warm light picture. The installation beacon is economical to run, requiring 45 to 60 mA.

In many situations, it's necessary to reinforce the effect of the optical signal by adding an audible signal. The new 240 combination device options bring the flexible solution of an extremely bright LED beacon with a loud buzzer emitting 85 dB, claims the company.

Simple Installation and Maintenance-Free LED

Owing to its M30 installation size, the signal device can be easily installed with single-hole mounting. Bit-encoded actuation allows the three basic colors — green, yellow, and red — to be displayed using two programmable-logic-controller (PLC) outputs. With additional outputs, blue, turquoise, violet, and white can also be activated.

The beacon is reliable, maintenance-free, and long-lasting with a service life of up to 50,000 hours. With its IP 65 protection category, it can withstand dust and water ingress.
