Programmable logic device developer Xilinx Inc. has achieved certification for Automotive Industry Quality Standard ISO/TS 16949. Earlier, it met ISO 9001, TL 9000 and QML quality standards, thus the certification process was “extremely short and painless,” according to Dr. Evert Wolsheimer, vice president of quality and reliability.
Citing IMS Research, Xilinx said the total available market for PLDs in automotive applications is expected to reach $449.3 million by 2010. Applications include in-car audio, infotainment and driver information/telematics. Xilinx said its XA is one of few programmable logic product lines to meet the Automotive Electronics Council AEC-Q100 qualification flow, provide full support of the Automotive Industry's Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) provision, and comply fully with ISO-TS16949.
