Not a typical characteristic of laser diodes in a TO-3 package, the ML-Series is capable of delivering peak power levels common to solid-state lasers. As an example, the ML-0040 delivers a minimum output power of 10 kW and a maximum peak output of 40 kW in an 8-pin TO-3 package. The other lasers in the series, the M-00005, M-00024 and M-00039, deliver peak output power of 10 kW, 4 kW and 10 kW, respectively. Specifications common to the devices include an operating voltage of 1.8V typical, operating current of 1.6A maximum, a reverse voltage of 0.2V, forward voltage of 1.9V, and an operating temperature range of -20°C to 50°C. Common optical characteristics include an energy jitter of 0.5% (represents percent difference between two adjacent pulses), an energy drift of less than 5%, a pulse-to-pulse stability of less than 1%, and a linear polarization ratio of 100:1. All devices are available from stock. NORTHROP GRUMMAN CORP., Charlotte, NC. (888) 224-4786.
