Miniature Half-Watt LED Package Has High Lumen Output

Suitable for both large and small lighting applications, a new miniature half-watt LED package features high luminous intensity and a long operating lifespan. Designated the OVS5MxBCR4 series, the 3.5-mm surface mount device is an energy-efficient LED source is compatible with IR reflow soldering, and has low thermal resistance and excellent spatial uniformity. Available with white, warm white, blue, green, red, amber and yellow LEDs, the OVS5MxBCR4 series LED packages feature a 120° viewing angle and a water clear lens. Power dissipation at 150 mA is 0.48 W for the white, warm white, and blue LEDs; 0.51 W for the green device; and 0.33 W for the red, amber and yellow packages. Typical luminous intensity is 4000, 4500, and 5000 mcd for the red, amber, and yellow LEDs, respectively. Luminous flux for the white, warm white, blue, and green LEDs is 25, 25, 6, and 25 lm, respectively. Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +100°C. Typical pricing for the miniature half-watt LEDs in 1000-piece quantities of 1K is approximately $0.28 each for the amber, red, and yellow LEDs; $0.45 each for the white and warm white devices; $0.52 each for the blue LED, and $0.72 each for the green packages.
