Addressing current trends in backlighting design, the company combines low forward voltage LEDs with low dropout LED driver ICs to provide users with a variety of options. The QTLP6xx series, surface-mount LEDs feature low-voltage operation and a narrow forward-voltage range, said to enhance color and brightness. The series uses dc voltage to eliminate the need for added circuitry. The FAN56xx LED driver ICs provide drive options of two or four LEDs and include enable functions. They eliminate the need for external current-matching resistors with ±3% actively matched current sources, yielding efficiencies up to 97.5%. Other features of the driver devices include built-in analog, digital, and PWM control and programmable LED current via a single external resistor. The drivers are available in SC-70 and 2X2 MLPs.
