The AS3607 power management IC (PMIC) features a level of start-up sequence programmability not found in similar devices with fixed start-up sequences selectable with external resistors. Output voltage and timing of all regulators are programmable via software. Users can program start-up sequences with timing steps of 1 ms or 4 ms. For controlling other parts of the system, GPIO pins are programmable to a specific timing. Other features include three dc/dc step-down converters and five low-noise LDO regulators, a LED backlight driver, two programmable current sinks, and a li-ion battery charger. The step-down converters deliver 700 mA each with an efficiency up to 95%. Available in a QFN36 measuring 6 mm x 6 mm with a 0.5-mm pitch, price is $2.99 each/1,000.
