For high-power LED apps, the IRS2548D switched mode power supply (SMPS) control IC combines PFC and a half-bridge driver to deliver better than 88% efficiency for a 40V/1.3A HBLED load. The device achieves PWM dimming down to less than 2% light output and includes programmable PFC and half-bridge over-current protection, latch immunity, and ESD protection. It also packs a variable frequency oscillator, fixed internal 1.6-ms dead time, bootstrap MOSFET, 15.6V Zener clamp diode on Vcc, and a 250-μA startup current draw. Pricing for the IRS2548D begins at $1.45 each/10,000. For more information, contact Sian Cummins at INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER, El Segundo, CA. (310) 252-7148.
