Buck Regulator Boasts Accuracy and Low Power

National Semiconductor’s LM26001 buck regulator offers a combination of high accuracy and low quiescent current consumption, making the part well suited to automotive applications.

Rated to deliver 1.5 A via an internal switch, National Semiconductor’s LM26001 buck regulator offers a combination of high accuracy and low quiescent current (IQ) consumption, making the part well suited to automotive applications. The device specifies 1.5% feedback voltage accuracy to meet the needs of the latest microcontroller, microprocessor and DSP core voltages. At the same time, it typically reduces IQ to just 40 μA in the sleep mode and 10 μA in the shutdown mode.

The device has a wide input voltage range from 4.0 V to 38 V and can operate with input voltages as low as 3 V during cold-crank transients. The operating frequency is adjustable from 150 kHz to 500 kHz with a single resistor and can be synchronized to an external clock. Now sampling, the LM26001 is housed in a TSSOP-16 package and priced at $3.00 in 1000-unit quantities.
