Glyndwr Smith, chairman of the Electronic Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (ECA), will keynote CARTS Europe with a presentation on the metamorphosis of passive components. Smith also serves as assistant to the CEO and senior vice president of Vishay Intertechnology. The keynote is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at the Holiday Inn in Nice, France.
Smith's presentation will span the evolution of passive components, from the first resistor and capacitor to the tiny devices that are the heart of today's electronics industry. He will cover sales figures, applications, technology development, and future trends.
"We've seen tremendous changes in capacitors and resistors over the past 200 years, and the industry will continue to evolve rapidly," said Smith. "Our challenge is to continue driving innovation with new materials and improved specifications in smaller and more integrated packages."
CARTS Europe is the only event in Europe devoted solely to passive electronic components. It is a forum for presenting the latest developments in passive component technology, associated materials, measurement methods, and testing techniques.
