SEI Electronics Inc. has developed a series of extremely robust, lead free surface-mount varistors capable of clamping voltages from 50 Vdc to 385 Vdc, in industry-standard 3225 and 4032 package sizes. Designated the DV and PV Series, these varistors offer low-voltage and ac line-transient suppression protection to customers that traditionally utilize leaded varistor technologies.

The DV Series are ceramic-based, chip-style SMD devices capable of continuous working voltages from 11 Vrms to 300 Vrms with 8/20 µs of peak current handling of 100 A, 250 A, 400 A and 1200 A at operating temperatures from -55°C to 125°C.

The PV Series features high polymer plastic mold-encapsulated SMD technology, capable of continuous working voltages from 11 Vrms to 300 Vrms with 8/20 µs of peak current handling of 100, 250, 400 and 1200 amps while operating at temperatures from -40°C to +85°C.

The DV and PV Series both employ a proprietary materials technology to ensure excellent clamping response times of typically less than 3 ns and 5 ns, respectively. Additionally, the DV and PV Series ensure solid performance in even the most humid environmental conditions.
