TT electronics OPTEK Technology recently re-entered the High Reliability (Hi-Rel) market for Hall-effect, magnetoresistive and optoelectronic components. OPTEK has the ability to transform standard commercial devices into Hi-Rel products, capable of withstanding severe levels of mechanical, environmental and electrical stress within harsh military and space applications.

“Due to multiple requests from our customers, we made the decision to return to the Hi-Rel business,” explained Steve Coble, OPTEK Engineering Manager. “The U.S. government has issued a directive for the use of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products and OPTEK feels that the elimination of the JAN (joint army navy) standard is the proper direction for the industry. Our ability to convert COTS products from standard commercial processes exhibits the high quality built into all OPTEK devices.”

OPTEK offers a comprehensive list of products that comply with the Hi-Rel standards set forth by the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC), ranging from Hall-effect, optoelectronic components & assemblies to magnetoresistive assemblies. These products are integrated into critical sensing functions in munitions, satellites, missiles, radar guidance systems and other Hi-Rel applications.

Unit pricing varies depending on the product and testing requirements. Full documentation is available upon request. Production lead-times range from stock to several weeks.
