Passive Copper and Active Optical QSFP-based Cable Assemblies

FCI has expanded the QSFP+ (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable) portion of its XLerate High Speed I/O product line offerings to now include passive copper and active optical cable offerings that are fully compliant to the Infiniband FDR (Fourteen Data Rate - 14 Gb/s per channel) specification. XLerate's QSFP+ cables are used in applications where aggregate bandwidth needs (up to 56Gb/s) exceed the capability of existing QSFP+ cables running at IBTA QDR (Quad Data Rates) and delivering only 40Gb/s aggregate bandwidth per connector port.
The QSFP+ Series is fully compliant to the SFF-8436 specification and delivers a minimum of four times the port bandwidth capability when compared to existing SFP+ systems. The QSFP+ system and form factor is particularly well suited for high transactional system applications that are typically deployed in data center, networking and high performance computing platforms.
The XLerate QSFP+ product portfolio consists of an SMT 38-position RoHS-compliant edge card connector (10G), a PCB-mounted EMI metal cage with a die-cast heat sink, an associated mounting clip and either copper-based passive or active optical cable assemblies. The board connector has an optimized PCB interface to minimize crosstalk and insertion loss. The cable assemblies have robust die-cast covers that provide superior EMI shielding and also feature an easy-to-use pull lanyard for simple cable assembly un-mating.
These cost-effective cable solutions are ideal for computing applications where the Infiniband reliability and low latency characteristics are key system considerations.
