Renesas Electronics America Inc. will showcase its newest power technologies at the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC), March 17-19, taking place at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Demonstrations in booth #536 will highlight IGBT and PMIC power solutions designed for efficient operation and optimal levels of short-circuit ruggedness for industrial motor drives, electric vehicles, and inverters for solar and wind applications.

A strong focus on reducing society’s energy footprint is driving the market for highly-efficient, scalable and safe power solutions. Renesas power devices offer a strong solution for designers of embedded systems for automotive and industrial applications, like vehicle electrification, motor drives and the smart grid, especially when implemented with the company’s industry leading MCUs.

Exhibitor Presentation

Satyavrat Laud, Renesas senior product marketing manager for IGBTs, will highlight key features of the company’s recently announced, and currently available, G7H IGBT technology. In a presentation titled, “Renesas Next Generation IGBTs: an Up-Close Look”, Laud will discuss the performance benefits the IGBTs offer for solar inverters and motor drives.

  • When: Wednesday, March 19, at 10:30 AM
  • Where: Room 202 AB (Session #5)

Renesas Product and Technology Demonstrations

  • Motor Control: This demonstration will showcase a complete, scalable and ready-to-use solution kit for 3-phase 120 VAC/230 VAC motor drives. The motor control is implemented with a high-efficiency Trench IGBT-based inverter, which is controlled by a high-performance 32-bit MCU.
  • New Power Management ICs for DC/DC: Renesas will feature the newest members in its PMIC families - the new RZZ23021x, new RZZ23040x and RAA2770x (mini-POL Converter) – that demonstrate high-efficiency and multi-channel DC/DC converters providing voltage regulation for the Renesas MCUs and other ICs from 10s of mAs to 15A. Attendees can learn how the mini-POL converter achieves the industry’s highest level of miniaturization and power density.
