IBM will acquire Princeton Softech Inc., a private Princeton, New Jersey-based company that provides data archiving and management software. IBM will integrate Softech products into its Information Management Software division. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The aquisition is a part of IBM's cross-company Information on Demand business initiative, which seeks to address escalating information management challenges. IBM says the addition of Princeton Softech's technology will expand IBM's ability to offer clients integrated data classification, archiving, and test data management and data privacy solutions. "Organizations of all sizes worldwide face the challenge of effectively managing their surging data volumes, particularly given growing governance and compliance requirements," Ambuj Goyal, general manager of IBM Information Management, said in a statement. "The combination of IBM and Princeton Softech will provide our customers and partners with a single solution to more effectively manage risk and keep up with the variety of regulatory and enterprise data governance requirements." The deal is expected to close later in 2007.
