Open to international players, the Software Defined Radio (SDR) Forum is establishing a special interest group that will focus on activities benefiting the worldwide tactical radio community. As sales of tactical radios in North America, Europe, Asia, and other areas have grown in recent years, a large number of these have been software defined, driving the Forum to create the group to provide an international venue for discussing the techniques of developing and deploying current-generation SDRs. The main focus of the group will be to identify tactical radio trends in light of modernization efforts in various regions and in future net-centric operations. Participants will include system and waveform developers, end users, government, technology providers, and spectrum managers. Launching in early 2008, the Forum invites participation by a cross section of the tactical radio community.
