Hardware Encryption Processor Uses Triple-Key Standard

The CDI2000 processor uses the Triple-Key data encryption standard to provide hardware encryption and message authentication. The device performs Triple-Key DES encryption at 88 Mbps in any 64-bit mode of operation. In addition, there's a built-in, 64-bit random number generator to supply new key and initial vector values.The low-power processor is intended for network suppliers, computer peripherals, and other embedded systems in commercial and government applications. It provides four key registers and two initial vector registers and supports ANSI x3.106 modes of operation in block sizes of 1, 8 and 64 bits. Triple-Key DES can be used with ECB, CBC, CFB and OFB modes by selecting any three of the key registers. The processor supports numerous security and reliability features, including bus-parity checking and tamper detection. System diagnostics are supported by a built-in Monte Carlo test command. Manufactured in CMOS, the chip can be powered from 5V or 3.3V supplies.
