Power Amplifier Module Eyes High Bandwidth WCDMA Wireless Mart

April 1, 2000

Measuring only 6 mm square x 1.7 mm high, the CHP2230-PM linear-efficient, 3-stage, 1920- to 1980-MHz power amplifier module has been developed for use in WCDMA 3G cellular handsets and infrastructure systems. Claims made for the new 50 ohm-matched, InGaP HBT power amp include 50% size reduction versus comparable solutions, 30% linear power added efficiency at 28 dBm under 3X WCDMA modulation, and excellent electrical stability and low thermal resistance.
The device can operate using a voltage as low as 3.2V and offers a 30-dB gain at operating output power. In volume quantities, the CHP2230-PM module costs $7.10 each.
