Lithium/manganese dioxide battery packs have been developed that are said to last up to seven years in card reader door locks. Offering up to four times the power of alkaline batteries, the new battery packs can operate over a -40¡F to 140¡F temperature range and come in standard and custom 3V, 6V and 9V packs for use in Saflok, Ilco and other popular card reader door locks. Door lock battery packs are also available based on other, conventional chemistries and in styles ranging from a single AA cell to multiple cells using Duracel, Eveready, Rayovac, and other power sources.
