Self-Shimming Adhesive Conducts Heat

May 1, 2000

A fast curing, self-shimming thermally conductive adhesive, Loctite 3873 is designed for bonding heat-generating devices to thermal heat sinks. The adhesive is a primer curing, acrylic based, single-component, thermally-conductive paste that provides mechanical attachment and heat transfer with a thermal conductivity of 1.65 W/m-K. When used with Loctite 7387 activator, the adhesive cures rapidly and when used with Loctite 3873, parts are fixtured in 5 minutes at room temperature.
