LabVIEW 2011 from National Instruments features new engineering-specific libraries, including libraries for computational geometry, angle manipulations, and error calculations. NI has also improved LabVIEW’s ability to interact with almost any hardware device or deployment target.
Austin, Texas: National Instruments has unveiled LabVIEW 2011, the 25th anniversary version of its graphical system design tool. Engineers and scientists widely use LabVIEW for designing, prototyping, and deploying applications with maximum efficiency (see the figure).
LabVIEW 2011 features new engineering-specific libraries, including libraries for computational geometry, angle manipulations, and error calculations. NI has also improved LabVIEW’s ability to interact with almost any hardware device or deployment target, including the companay’s newly introduced multicore CompactRIO controller and PXIe-5665, its high-performance RF vector signal analyser.
The new edition of the tool supports the latest Microsoft .NET assemblies, .m structures, and new Xilinx intellectual property (IP) for the LabVIEW FPGA module. This provides FPGA code loading, wiring, editing, and compiling that’s up to five times faster. LabVIEW 2011 also can spawn asynchronous threads to create multithreaded applications more quickly with a new communications application programming interface (API).
A new pallete of controls and indicators helps engineers and scientists build professional, modern-looking user interfaces. Improved access to LabVIEW add-ons developed by third parties, available online, is featured as well.
