Designed for use in automobile entertainment systems, the TSOP48xxxxAM series miniaturized IR receiver modules are said to be the industry's first such devices approved for a storage temperature range of −40°C to +90°C. The modules integrate a photo detector, preamplifier, and an AGC in a single epoxy package measuring 6 mm x 6.95 mm x 5.6 mm. The package also doubles as an IR filter. Optimized for multimedia applications, the devices deliver a demodulated output signal that can be decoded directly by a microprocessor. Operating voltage ranges from 4.5V to 5.5V. The modules are available in seven standard carrier frequencies ranging from 30 kHz to 56 kHz with a burst length of 10 cycles/burst. In 100,000-piece quantities, pricing starts at $80/100.
