Designed to perform boost-type power factor correction (PFC) in switching power supplies, the 7720 Series modules come in three standard configurations spanning power ratings of from 500W to 3,000W with line voltages up to 300 Vrms. Housing a bridge rectifier, power MOSFET, ultra-fast boost diode and a thermistor, the modules are said to reduce the time, real estate, component count and cost of adding PFC to switchers versus discrete component implementations. PFC circuitry enables switchers rated higher than 75W to make more efficient use of ac line current while allowing the supply to meet harmonic requirements.
The compact, low-profile modules stand a mere 0.200" high and have a compact, 1.380" x 2.230" footprint, and can replace up to 10 TO-220 or TO-247 discrete power semiconductors. Their operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C and their starting price is $22.10 each/10,000.
