DAC Family Integrates Voltage Reference In SC70 Package

Housed in SC70 packages measuring 2.1 mm x 2 mm, the LTC2630 family of 12-, 10-, and 8-bit d/a converters manage to squeeze in a full-scale, 2.5V or 4.096V, 10 ppm/°C voltage reference. Providing single outputs, the devices achieve a 12-bit dc

Housed in SC70 packages measuring 2.1 mm x 2 mm, the LTC2630 family of 12-, 10-, and 8-bit d/a converters manage to squeeze in a full-scale, 2.5V or 4.096V, 10 ppm/°C voltage reference. Providing single outputs, the devices achieve a 12-bit dc performance of ±1 LSB (maximum) integral nonlinearity error. Suitable for under-the-hood automotive voltage adjustment, they are guaranteed for operation over the H-grade temperature range of -40°C to +125°C as well as I grade -40°C to +85°C and C-grade 0°C to +70°C ranges. The converters draw 160 µA of supply current at 3V and 180 µA at 5V. Communicating via a 3-wire SPI-compatible interface at clock rates up to 50 MHz, they settle for a half-scale step in less than 5 µs. Outputs can swing to the internal reference voltage or rail-to-rail to the supply, and can power up to zero-scale or mid-scale. The 12-bit LTC2630-12, 10-bit LTC2630-10, and 8-bit LTC2630-8 are pin-compatible. Prices are $1.43, $1.24, and $0.98 each/1,000, respectively. LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP., Milpitas, CA. (800) 454-6327.
