Designed to improve SNR in PZT- and CMUT-based ultrasound probes, the MAX4805 and MAX4805A octal high-voltage-protected buffers specify a voltage noise of 2.1 nV/ÖHz and a current noise of 2 pA/ÖHz. They feature eight low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) in a non-inverting configuration that are controlled by an enable input, which simplifies device operation. These devices do not require dedicated Tx/Rx signals and include embedded LNA high-voltage protection. Protection is activated once the Tx voltage is greater than ±2.7V, making them transparent in any in-probe application. Available in 32-pin, 5 mm x 5 mm TQFN packages, prices start at $23.54 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
