Digital Current Sensor/Voltage Monitor Introduces Simultaneous Sampling
Integrating a precision current-sense amplifier and two 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) channels, Texas Instruments’ LMP92064 can simultaneously capture voltage and current data. In addition, a four-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) transfers real-time data at up to 20 MHz. Maximum input offset voltage is ±15 µV, and maximum gain error runs less than ±0.75%. A 125-ksample/s conversion rate allows for more accurate power-fluctuation measurements. Unidirectional input and output lines simplify interfacing to isolation devices, such as TI’s ISO7141CC quad-channel digital isolator. The device comes in a 16-pin, 5- by 4-mm WSON package. Also available is the LMP92064 evaluation module, which quickly demonstrates current-shunt monitor functionality. It includes a USB interface and software to configure and monitor device performance. Applications include communications infrastructure, including telecom, servers, and central office equipment.
