Events address PXI for IC test, BRIC test markets
Events coming up this month include one addressing PXI for semiconductor test and another covering growth opportunities in the general-purpose test-equipment market in the BRIC countries.
First up is a May 15 seminar in Santa Clara, in which presenters representing Geotest, Robson Technologies (RTI), and ZTEC Instruments will discuss recent advances in PXI systems and instrumentation that semiconductor manufacturers can take advantage of to lower cost of test for digital, mixed signal and SoC test applications. Topics covered will include verification, failure analysis, pilot production, and focused production test applications. Attendees will learn about digital test using PXI instrumentation and pre-configured PXI semiconductor test systems; they will understand how PXI’s open architecture can be used to configure application specific solutions; and they will gain knowledge about load board design and unique device socket options. The seminar targets semiconductor test engineers; engineers involved in the design and test of devices, SoCs, and hybrids; and other professionals involved in test and validation. The seminar repeats June 5 in Portland, OR; June 12 in Chandler, AZ; June 19 in Austin, TX; and June 21 in Dallas.
On May 16, Frost & Sullivan will present a teleconference titled “Analyst Briefing: The BRIC Effect: Growth Opportunities in the General Purpose Test Equipment Market.” Industry manager Sujan Sami, senior research analyst Mariano Kimbara, and industry director Jessy Cavazos with Frost & Sullivan's Measurement & Instrumentation Division will report on extensive analysis they have completed.
Their recent research showed increased interest from leading vendors on BRIC countries and beyond and showed major revenue growth compared to more mature markets. They report that Frost & Sullivan is seeing significant infrastructure development and legacy technology upgrades as a key driver for demand in BRIC and other emerging countries. Governments in those regions, they report, are trying to increase local R&D and education funding in research that is expected to translate into major growth in demand for test and measurement equipment.
Attendees will learn about the growth of mobile broadband and deployment of LTE and its impact on the general-purpose test-equipment market, identify which end-user industries represent most of the growth opportunities in BRIC and other emerging countries, learn about growing electronics manufacturing and outsourcing activities in BRIC countries, and hear about perspectives and key strategies adopted by leading companies to meet the needs created by favorable economics and demographics.
